  1. Brief descriptions of the TeX stuff here.  Contact tex-wizard@cs.umb.edu
  2. if you have troubles transferring this stuff.  (But don't write to that
  3. address with general TeX questions!)

  5. In addition to the files listed below, there are archives named with
  6. specific version numbers.
  7.  
  8. All the archives are tar files compressed with gzip (GNU zip).  gzip is
  9. both technically better than compress and (so far as is known) free of
  10. software patents.  Write to lpf@uunet.uu.net for more information about
  11. the new monopoly of software patents.

  14. FTP.nwc            Instructions for retrieving a complete TeX package.
  15.  
  16. charter.tar.gz        The Charter Type 1 fonts Bitstream donated to the X
  17.             consortium, arranged for use with TeX and dvips[k].
  18.  
  19. chbars.tex        A random changebars macro package.
  20.  
  21. dvipsk.tar.gz        A modified version of rokicki@cs.stanford.edu's
  22.             dvips driver which uses the same path searching
  23.             rules as web2c. (You can get the original from
  24.             labrea.stanford.edu:pub.)

  26. eplain.tar.gz        The complete ``extended plain'' distribution,
  27. eplain/*        including a manual.
  28.  
  29. fontname.tar.gz        A scheme for giving short filenames to fonts,
  30. fontname/*        with names listed for most of Adobe's fonts, and
  31.             for some of other suppliers'.
  32.  
  33. impatient        The macros used to produce TeX for the Impatient.
  34.  
  35. lib.tar.gz        A basic set of TFM's and other input files,
  36.             arranged in web2c's default installation hierarchy.

  38. lucida.tar.gz        TFM's and VF's for using Lucida (including the
  39.             math fonts) with TeX and dvips[k]. No outlines.

  41. modes.mf        Large collection of Metafont modes, with explanations.

  43. psfonts.tar.gz        PK files for the standard 35 PostScript fonts in
  44.             various sizes, generated by `gsrenderfont' in
  45.                         the GNU font utilities.

  70.                         systems), using C.

  72.             for web2c.
  73. web2c.help.*        Possibly helpful information for getting around
  74.             common problems on some systems. (I don't just
  75.             release patches or a new version because not
  76.             everyone has these problems, and preparing
  77.             a release is a big effort.)
