- In addition to the files listed below, there are archives named with
- specific version numbers.

- All the archives are tar files compressed with gzip (GNU zip). gzip is
- both technically better than compress and (so far as is known) free of
- software patents. Write to lpf@uunet.uu.net for more information about
- the new monopoly of software patents.

- FTP.nwc Instructions for retrieving a complete TeX package.

- charter.tar.gz The Charter Type 1 fonts Bitstream donated to the X
- consortium, arranged for use with TeX and dvips[k].

- chbars.tex A random changebars macro package.

- dvipsk.tar.gz A modified version of rokicki@cs.stanford.edu's
- dvips driver which uses the same path searching
- rules as web2c. (You can get the original from
- labrea.stanford.edu:pub.)

- eplain.tar.gz The complete ``extended plain'' distribution,
- eplain/* including a manual.

- fontname.tar.gz A scheme for giving short filenames to fonts,
- fontname/* with names listed for most of Adobe's fonts, and
- for some of other suppliers'.

- impatient The macros used to produce TeX for the Impatient.

- lib.tar.gz A basic set of TFM's and other input files,
- arranged in web2c's default installation hierarchy.

- lucida.tar.gz TFM's and VF's for using Lucida (including the
- math fonts) with TeX and dvips[k]. No outlines.

- modes.mf Large collection of Metafont modes, with explanations.

- psfonts.tar.gz PK files for the standard 35 PostScript fonts in
- various sizes, generated by `gsrenderfont' in
- the GNU font utilities.

- sauter.tar.gz John Sauter's Metafont programs to produce
- true-size Computer Modern fonts, packaged for Unix.

- scyrillic.tar.gz Samarin and Glonti's Cyrillic.

- which is for discussion of dvipsk, xdvik, web2c, etc.

- for use with TeX and dvips[k].

- utopia.tar.gz The Type 1 Utopia fonts Adobe donated to the X
- consortium, arranged for use with TeX and dvips.

- web2c.tar.gz A port of TeX to Unix (and maybe other operating
- systems), using C.
- web.tar.gz The original web files in the right hierarchy
- for web2c.
- web2c.help.* Possibly helpful information for getting around
- common problems on some systems. (I don't just
- release patches or a new version because not
- everyone has these problems, and preparing
- a release is a big effort.)
